airline ticket savings

you brought your ticket and the price of the ticket went down. not fair
if you call the airline while the lower price is in effect they will give you a voucher.
must have brought ticket through the airline.
this has been effect for years.

avoid the traffic

leave a few mintues earlier in the morning for work and avoid the traffic. you won't take as long to get to work, not as many pauses in traffic. that saves gas.

remember to turn off the light

when you leave a room turn off the light as you walk out.

turn the temp down in the winter when you leave for awhile , and turn up when gone n the summer. the less the heater or air conditioner runs, the less money you spend.

close the curtains or blinds to the hot side of the house in the summer. and the north side in the winter.

PENNIES EQUAL DOLLARS IN NO TIME

KEEP A JAR AND PUT YOUR CHANGE IN IT EVERY DAY. YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED HOW MUCH YOU HAVE IN THAT JAR IN A MONTH. ENOUGH TO BUY A TANK OF GAS, A MEAL OUT, OR A MOVIE.

SLOW DOWN, TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS

A SURE WAY TO WATCH THOSE DOLLARS FLY IS TO SPEED, MAKE A FAST START FROM A STOP POSITION OR SPEED UP TO A STOP AND SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO STOP.
PON'T GO THROUGH THE DRIVE THRU. PARK AND WALK IN.
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT ANYWAY I CAN MAKE THE GASOLINE IN MY CAR LAST I AM WILLING TO TRY.
WHEN OUT DRIVING LOOK AT GAS PRICES AND FIND A PLACE THAT IS ON YOUR WAY PLACES WITH THE CHEAPEST GAS PRICES ALL THE TIME.

THE THRILL OF THE HUNT, THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND SOMETHING CATCHES YOUR EYE BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT IS OUT FOR TRASH PICK UP SHOULD I STOP AND PICK IT UP. OH, YES.
ANY SMALL PIECE OF FURNITURE CAN BE A GREAT PLANT STAND, EITHER LEFT WORN OR ADD YOUR FAVORITE PAINT COLOR . A SMALL TABLE, A WOODEN CHAIR, A SET OF SHELVES.
A DRAWER OR CABINET DOOR WITH BLACKBOARD PAINT ON THE FLAT SURFACE MAKES A GREAT MESSAGE CENTER.
MAKE A SET OF SHELVES FOR WOODEN SHUTTERS WITH WOODEN BOARDS BETWEEN THE SHUTTERS.
SHORTEN THE LEGS OF A SMALL TABLE AND WOODEN CHAIRS TO MAKE FURNITURE FOR CHILDREN.
MAKE A BED HEADBOARD FROM AN OLD DOOR.
GLUE A CUP AND SAUCER TOGETHER AND ATTACH TO A POST FOR A BIRD FEEDER.
YOU CAN RECYCLE ALMOST ANYTHING
A ROW BOAT CAN BECOME A FLOWER GARDEN CONTAINER
AN OLD IRON HEADBOARD CAN BECOME A SUPPORT FOR THE CLIMBING ROSES OR TOMATOE PLANTS.
THE IDEAS ARE ENDLESS.

EATING OUT

MOST RESTAURANTS OFFER LUNCH SPECIALS AND EARLY EVENING OR LATE AFTERNOON SPECIALS. ALSO WATCH FOR COUPONS IN MAGAZINES OR NEWSPAPERS.

INSURANCE AND TAXES

HOME OWNERS INSURANCE, GO FOR ALITTLE HIGHER DEDUCTIBLE. REMEMBER WHEN YOU MAKE A CLAIM, FOR ANY AMOUNT, YOUR RATES WILL PROBABLY GO UP.

CAR INSURANCE, GO ALITTLE HIGHER DEDUCTIBLE. REMEMBER TRAFFIC TICKETS AND ACCIDENTS AND CLAIMS MAKE YOUR RATES GO UP. AND GO A LITTLE SLOWER WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING.

TAXES IN THE COUNTY ARE USUALLY AT LEAST HALF WHAT THEY ARE INSIDE THE CITY LIMITS.

YOUR CREDIT AND INTEREST NO FREE LUNCHES

THE BETTER YOUR CREDIT SCORE THE BETTER YOUR INTEREST RATES. WHY DO YOU THINK BANKS, AUTO DEALERS, MORTGAGE COMPANIES CHECK YOUR CREDIT BEFORE GIVING YOU A LOAN??? PAY ON TIME. THINK DO I REALLY THAT ITEM RIGHT NOW.
IF SOMETHING IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, WALK AWAY. THERE NO FREE LUNCHES ANYMORE.
WATCH INTEREST RATES WHEN BUYING A BIG TICKET ITEM. LOANS THROUGH STORES ARE ALWAYS HIGHER.

RECYCLE BOOKS AND MAGAZINES

WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED WITH THOSE MAGAZINES AND BOOKS, RECYCLE THEM.
DONATE THEM TO THRIFT SHOPS, NURSING HOMES, OR HAVE A YARD SALE.
I NEVER BUY MAGAZINES NEW, THRIFT SHOPS SELL THEM FOR 25 CENTS MOST OF THE TIME.
BOOKS ARE A GREAT BUY AT THRIFT SHOPS, THEY USUALLY RANGE IN PRICE FROM 25 CENTS TO $2.00. DEPENDING ON WHETHER THEY ARE PAPERBACKS OR HARDBACKS. WHY PAY $10.00 OR MORE. NEED A SPECIAL BOOKS??? TRY EBAY OR AMAZON.COM. THEY ARE USUALLY CHEAPER.

THOSE PLASTIC STORE BAGS

WHAT TO DO WITH THEM. I USE THEM TO LINE MY BATHROOM TRASH CANS. THEN YOU DON'T HAVE TO TOUCH THE TRASH CAN CONTENTS. RECYCLE.

DO NOT RECYLE PLASTIC BAGS YOU STORED FOOD IN, VERY UNHEALTHY. THOSE YOU REALLY NEED TO THROW AWAY.

REGIFTING IS NOT A BAD WORD

REGIFTING IS GREAT AS LONG AS YOU DON'T GIVE THE GIFT BACK TO THE PERSON WHO GAVE IT TO YOU.
HINT: PUT A NOTE ON THE GIFT REMINDING YOU WHO GAVE THE GIFT TO YOU.
MY MEMORY IS NOT ALL THAT GOOD REMINDERING WHO GAVE ME THE GIFT.
IF NOTHING ELSE SELL ON EBAY OR DONATE TO A THRIFT SHOP OR YOUR CHURCH YARD SALE. IF YOU JUST CAN'T USE IT, RECYCLE.

energy savers

set air conditioner at 75-78 degrees. can reduce cooling costs aprox. 3%.
keep air conditioner and heater filters clean.
remember fans cost less to operate than air conditioners

THE NEW FUNNY SHAPED LIGHT BULBS. THEY WILL SAVE YOU ENERGY. IT TAKES THEM ALITTLE LONGER TO REACH THEIR FULL GLOW, BUT THEY ARE CHEAPER RUN AND LAST LONGER. THEY ARE SLIGHTLY MORE EXPENSIVE TO BUY.

TURN OFF THE LIGHTS OFF IN THE ROOMS YOU ARE NOT IN.

IF YOU RINSE YOU DISHES BEFORE PUTTING THEM IN THE DISHWASHER, RINSE IN COLD WATER. YOU WILL BE USING HOT WATER IN THE DISHWASHER. AND AIR DRY AT THE END OF THE CYCLE.

TURN THE HEATER TEMPERATURE DOWN IN THE WINTER. A FEW DEGREES CAN REALLY CUT YOUR EXPENSES. JUST WEAR A SWEATER.

times of the month to buy

end of the month is always good for buying a car, especially, if the weather has been bad and sales have been slow, better deals to be gotten.

check when closing on a mortgage is the end or beginning of the month the best for you. when will you dollars go farther. you would be surprised that you could save hundreds of dollars at closing. also when selling a house check to see what the realtor's percentage is and how their sells have been.

THRIFT SHOPS FIRST OF THE MONTH FOR 25% OR GREATER SALES

church children's consignment sales
yard sales
thrift stores
ebay
outlet stores

remember children seem to out grow clothes before you wash them 3 times. and stains that just will not wash out. name brand, almost new or new. toys are another great way to save. remember children only play a couple times with a toy before they are ready for something new or the toy is broken.

and when the children outgrow clothes or toys, recycle them. and make some money in the process.

hints to save golden rule never pay full price - clothes

always check the sales or clearance racks. keep your clothes wardrobe to a few colors, then when out shopping check the sales racks. a navy print top always goes with plain navy pants or skirt. the end of the season is such a good time to shop for clothes. and you still have plenty of time to wear the item now.
choose the colors for your clothes on what looks good on you. the styles and colors change every year.
